Drama differs from ‘theatre’ which is oriented towards ‘performance’ targeted at an audience. Drama classes for kids  is grounded in the realities of a child’s life. In the Young Actors Club acting course for children, students create their own plays with characters drawn from experience. The syllabus for the Young Actors Club classes includes a carefully planned sequence of Drama games, roleplays and activities, developed by Barry John, which focus on building students’ abilities in key areas including Breathing and Voicing, Imagination and Creativity, Movement, Performance Skills, Mime, Language Development and Script-writing. Ice-Breaking and Trust exercises enhance the students’ ability to cooperate with others on creative projects.

Speech and drama build or develop confidence, self-esteem, social skills and conversational ability. It also teaches empathy providing opportunities for children to experience the world from the perspective from their own. Speech and drama lessons are not meant just for reserved children but for the exuberant ones too. Drama is the wonderful way through which they can channel their energies to find innovative methods of creating and expressing.

The benefits of speech and drama are obvious. Children become self-confident and at the same time become good communicators!
